Khan explains Harrison split
Amir Khan has cited 'a lack of communication' for his split with former coach Oliver Harrison. The Commonwealth and WBO Intercontinental lightweight champion went 17 fights undefeated under Harrison but will now look to appoint a new trainer after his next fight on June 21.
Khan has teamed up with Dean Powell on a temporary basis, but the Bolton fighter is now looking to further his boxing education with the help of a new trainer.
"It was a lack of communication really," said Khan.
"It's a shame it had to end like this, but I've got a lot of respect for Oliver as a coach.
"He has brought me on from being a good amateur to being a good professional.
"But now it's time to get another coach in who can teach me something else and someone I can communicate with.
"Now I've got Dean Powell for my next fight but after that I'll look at getting someone else in.
"Oliver was a great coach. I'm not going to disagree what people are saying and he developed me into a good professional.
"There's room for improvement in my boxing and my career so now it's time to make the next step."
