Hatton: It's going perfectly
Ricky Hatton says training for his upcoming 12 round battle with Mexican Juan Lazcano is going "perfectly" and says his girlfriend Jennifer is the one who should be thanked.
The "Hitman" is as well known for his post fight binges as he is for his glovework, regularly ballooning to three or four stone heavier than his usual weight thanks to a diet of Guinness, kebabs and pizzas.
But since Jennifer moved in, Hatton has cut down on the fatty foods and he says he is feeling better than ever and more than ready to avenge the defeat to Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas back in December.
Hatton said:" A lot is made of my weight and the size of me out of training shocks most people.
"I am only nine pounds over now though so that is perfect. People might not believe me but I don't struggle to make the weight and I never have done.
"Not putting as much weight on when I am not training this time round is all down to good old fashioned home cooking.
"I put on a fair bit of weight but I have not put as much on and I put that down to when I was living at home on my own, the most used number in the phone was the takeaways number but now my girlfriend has moved in she is doing my cooking and the takeaways have become less and less.
"That's the only thing I can put it down to, I am no longer the takeaway king."
Hatton is only nine pounds over his 10 stone limit for the clash even though he does not fight for another three weeks and the Manchester boxer says living with Jennifer is the reason he is so trim already.
Promoter Frank Maloney added:"I know the opponent is not a big name but this fight, with so many people will take Ricky to a new level.
"He is one of the biggest superstars in the sport and Britain's premier sportsman."
Hatton faces Lazcano at the City of Manchester Stadium on May 24.

An unhealthy diet isn't good for anyone, and this is especially true for somebody like a boxer who tries to go out there and give their all, night after night. Hopefully Hatton will continue with his healthy dieting, and I am greatly looking forward to how this upcoming bout goes.

Well, there are 2 sides to that issue. Everyone remembers George Foreman, right? He was always a bit on the heavy side, and that never stopped him from being an excellent boxer! Some people can manage like that, and others not so much. Hatton shouldn't be eating junk food though, since I think it's bad for HIM.
