Cook suffers finger injury blow

Alastair Cook suffered a suspected dislocation of his right little finger on day one of Essex's game against New Zealand at Chelmsford. The England opener was hurt when he dropped Daniel Vettori at gully and went to hospital for an X-ray.

The left-hander is, however, expected to be fit to bat on day two and in the first Test against the Kiwis starting on 15 May.

Ryan Ten Doeschate took 5-57 as the tourists struggled initially, but Justin Marshall hit 128 as they made 348-9 by the close.

It is quite painful I had it happen once with an old wreck. Its kind of like when you jam (stub) your finger, but then it just kind of pokes out. I would make sure he takes it easy abit as during healing its really easy to re-injure the finger.

Ouch, I didn't know you could dislocate your fingers. Sounds rather painful. Good to hear he'll be back in a couple day's time without an issue. They might really need him against the Kiwis.

It just had to be the little one, didn't it? It's kinda like when you stub your little toe....it always hurts worse than any of the other toes, lol, so I can just imagine what kind of pain his little finger is with it being possibly dislocated.
