Byrne to miss South Africa tour
Wales full-back Lee Byrne will miss the summer tour of South Africa after being told he needs surgery on his knee. Byrne played every game for Wales in the Six Nations tournament and scored three tries. The decision to have the operation was made jointly by the Wales Rugby Union and doctors at Byrne's club Ospreys.
Ospreys physio Chris Towers said: "By taking this action at this moment in time we are ensuring that disruption caused by the injury are kept to a minimum, which will ensure that he is able to train and prepare properly for the 2008-09 season and the challenge that lies ahead."

I always hate to hear about athletes having to get surgery done. They put their bodies through so much wear and tear that I suppose it's inevitable, but it's still unfortunate. I'm glad Byrne has decided to take care of himself first instead of pushing through and possibly injuring himself more, though.
