Bolt runs second quickest 100 metres in history

Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt became the second fastest man over 100 metres on Saturday when he ran 9.76 in Kingston. Nicknamed 'the lightening bolt', the 21-year-old is confident he can go on to claim Olympic gold in Beijing in August.

The time was just two hundredths of a second slower than the world record 9.74 set last year by fellow Jamaican Asafa Powell. Powell and American Tyson Gay will be Bolt's main rivals in Beijing.

"I know that with a bit more work I can break the world record," the world 200m silver medallist said.

The following wind of 1.8m per second for Bolt's run was inside the legal limit of 2.0m/sec.
