Home favourite Garrido on top in Spanish Open
Ignacio Garrido, the home favourite in Seville, goes into the final round of the Spanish Open with a three shot lead. The 26-year-old broke the course record on Friday with an eight-under-par 63, but could only manage a 72 on Saturday.
He finished on 15-under-par with nearest challenger, Miguel Angel Jimenez, on 12-under-par.
Garrido should have taken a four-shot lead into Sunday, but he miscalculated a 25-foot birdie putt on the final hole and left himself a four feet par putt, which he missed.
"It's just one more hole in the round - nothing to worry about," said Garrido. "The rest of the round was good. I felt comfortable and am happy with my performance.
"I did hit a couple of not committed shots, but it just happens that you lose your concentration a bit."
Englishman Mark Foster is well place at 11-under-par after he carded a round of 68. But it was his 20-year-old compatriot Danny Willet who had the best round of the day. The youngster's round of 64 saw him finish on nine-under-par for the round.
