Famous Name switches focus to Ireland

Famous Name is now likely to be aimed at the Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh instead of the French version at the weekend. The Dermot Weld-trained colt made impressed on his seasonal return with a four-length victory in the Group Three Leopardstown 2000 Guineas last month.

And although his trainer has not completely rule out the possibility of an appearance in the French capital on Sunday, the Curragh later this month now looks like a more viable destination.

"He's more likely to go straight for the Irish Guineas. No decision has been taken, but he's more likely to go for the Irish 2000 than go to France," said Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khalid Abdullah.

"He's done well and we hope he can carry on."
