Flintoff will give England a boost, says Hadlee
New Zealand legend Sir Richard Hadlee has admitted that the return of Andrew Flintoff would be an enormous boost for England ahead of the side's upcoming Test Series. The Lancashire all-rounder is progressing well after a fourth ankle operation, and could well play in the Series against the tourists, which begins on May 15.
But legendary Kiwi quick Hadlee, who took 431 Test wickets in an illustrious career, has told the 30-year-old he has a long way to go before being considered a great of the game.
He said: "If Flintoff plays he will add a lot of balance to the side. The all rounder is a crucial part of the side.
"Flintoff hasn't played enough Test matches to compare to the likes of Ian Botham and Imran Khan.
"But there's no doubt he can bat and bowl and his bowling in recent times has been highly impressive. He has a presence.
"Put it this way, we'd like him in our side."
