Grant not worried about Ferguson mind games

Avram Grant says he won't take any notice of Sir Alex Ferguson's mind games after the Manchester United boss attempted to gee up Chelsea's opponents on the final day of the Premier League season.

Chelsea face Bolton at Stamford Bridge on Sunday and Ferguson today claimed the Wanderers players have been out celebrating all week after winning their battle against relegation.

Ferguson clearly fears Gary Megson's side will provide little opposition for the Blues when they play in west London on the same day that United travel to Wigan with the title up for grabs.

But Grant, whose team are level on 84 points with United but have an inferior goal difference, is taking it all in his stride.

He said: "We know Alex. I like him, I respect him, but I know why he says things sometimes. I don't think he knows what's happening in Bolton - unless he wants to be manager there!

"I think they're safe, but I don't think the Bolton team will come here thinking it's not important. They'll try to do their best, so it'll be a tough game."

Grant is also hopeful Wigan will provide United with a stern test, especially as he needs Ferguson's side to drop points if the title is to end up in John Terry's grasp.

He added: "Wigan didn't lose since January at home and they played fantastic against us. They know they are in the spotlight all over the world so I think they will do their best."

Both teams are going to need to give their 110% for this game. and it is absolutely foolhardy to think that somebody is going to hold back or even not try at all! I think this may end up being a rather close game, but I am looking forward to it.
