Show us some respect, demands New Zealand skipper
New Zealand fast bowler Chris Martin has told England's players to stop reading the papers and start showing the Kiwis some respect. Martin believes negative comments in the English media about the Black Caps has filtered down to the England and lulled them into a false sense of security.
The Kiwi quick says his team-mates are more than happy to go into Thursday's opening Test at Lord's as underdogs.
He said: "Maybe the England team read the papers a bit more than we do.
"I know there's a lot of media hype to bring the English team up, saying that they should really stamp on us and destroy us.
"It's probably something they feel if they aren't doing that, because then that hype gets over-extended and they start to feel the pressure.
"I suppose you guys (the media) are doing us a favour in some ways."
Martin, who has picked up 136 wickets in 40 Tests, is confident New Zealand have the firepower to trouble England's vaunted batting line-up.
"As a bowling unit we learnt a lot about England's batting outfit in the last series," he said.
"We found out we had the capability and the skill to take 20 wickets against these guys.
"At the start of the series with all the talk about their top six all averaging over 40 that was a big step for us."

I think this would be the perfect opportunity for the Kiwis to show just how much respect they deserve. Lots of teams get overlooked or singled out to be the underdog. I'm sure they'll show them the error of their ways.
