Hoggard left out of England side
Matthew Hoggard has been left out of England's side for the First Test with New Zealand at Lord's, which begins on Thursday. The seamer, who has 248 Test wickets but was dropped during the tour against the same side during the winter, will instead take on 12th man duties.
That is because coach Peter Moores has decided to stick with the side that claimed victory in that series, with Stuart Broad, Jimmy Anderson and Ryan Sidebottom the fast bowlers, and Monty Panesar the spin bowler.
Michael Vaughan captains the side, while Tim Ambrose will keep wicket.
England side to face New Zealand at Lord's:
Michael Vaughan (capt), Alastair Cook, Andrew Strauss, Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell, Paul Collingwood, Tim Ambrose (wkt), Stuart Broad, Ryan Sidebottom, Monty Panesar, James Anderson.
