Diarra takes fresh swipe at Wenger
Lassana Diarra has blasted Arsene Wenger for ignoring him at Arsenal - and reckons he will win one more trophy than the Gunners this season. French midfielder Diarra was allowed to leave the Emirates just four months after signing from Chelsea and having played only a handful of games.
But he has been a sensation at Portsmouth ever since and reckons an FA Cup Final against Cardiff on Saturday shows he was right to quit the Gunners - even if he doesn't understand why he was allowed to go.
He said: "For this question you have to talk to Arsene Wenger because when I was there, every time he put me on the pitch I tried to do my best. For him, I don't know if it was good enough, but for me it was.
"This is why I left because I wanted more consideration and I wanted to just play every week. I wanted more consideration.
"When you are are in the team and even if you play well the manager doesn't put you on the pitch you have to do something.
"But I don't think about Arsenal now, I am just focused on Portsmouth. We have reached the final and that is why I am here. I hope I can win more this season than Arsenal have - but we'll have to see."
Diarra has been followed out of the Emirates by Matthieu Flamini - who quit the Gunners to join AC Milan -and reckons his fellow Frenchman shouldn't be criticised, either.
Diarra said: "He is a good player and has done well for Arsenal this season and he deserves to go to Milan. He is my friend as well and I just want to wish him and Arsenal good luck.
"I don't know if Arsenal will regret losing him and I don't care. I am at Portsmouth now and all I care about is Portsmouth.
"But sometimes you have to try to understand the player. You can't yet say whether it is a good or bad choice. We will see.
"As for me I just want to play and show what I can do. I wasn't able to do that at Chelsea or Arsenal and that is why I wanted to move. This is why I am happy. Hopefully now I can win the FA Cup too."
