Cole determined to banish Barca memories
Ashley Cole has warned Manchester United there is no way he is going to lose two Champions League finals in a row. Cole lost to Barcelona in Paris with Arsenal in 2006 but is determined to make up for it in Moscow - especially after seeing United win the title on Sunday.
The Chelsea defender said: "I think Manchester United deserved to win the league, but this is something totally different and we are not going there to be second best.
"If I get the chance to play then it is another moment in my career when I can say I played in a Champions League Final, but I do not want to be in the same situation as I was in last time. No one remembers a loser and I want to go there and lift the trophy.
"We probably had the stronger finish to the season but we have not won anything, Manchester United ended up winning the league.
I think the hunger and determination will be there and we are going to fight all the way and try and win this. I think it will be a great end to the season and it will make up for missing out on the league if we win the Champions League."
Cole has painful memories of his least ChampionsLeague final when goalkeeper Jens Lehmann was sent off - and current Chelsea team-mate Juliano Belletti scored for Barca in a 2-1 win for the Spaniards.
He said: "We went 1-0 up and should have gone 2-0 up and then we obviously went down to 10 men and then Belletti came along and scored - which he keeps reminding me about!
"I lost so I don't think about it too much, but I have the chance to put that right and try and get a winners medal this time.
"I hope Juliano can help us to win it this time!"
