Hull set-up Wembley date after Watford rout
Hull cruised into the final of the Championship play-off after a 4-1 win over Watford at the KC Stadium. Trailing by two goals from the first leg, Watford offered hope of a comeback when Darius Henderson struck early, but Phil Brown's side hit back emphatically with goals from Nick Barmy, Caleb Folan, Richard Garcia and Nathan Doyle.
Hull very nearly picked up where they left off at Vicarage Road when Frazier Campbell seized on Adrian Mariappa's weak pass pack, but Richard Lee's timely intervention spared his teammate's blushes.
Spurred on by that escape, Watford revived their hopes in the 12th minute when Henderson, who missed the first leg through suspension, played a neat one-two with Nathan Ellington and slotted the ball past Boaz Myhill to offer the visitors real hope.
Indeed, parity was very nearly restored five minutes later when Henderson stepped over pass and Lee Williamson's shot was just about repelled by Myhill.
But just when it looked like an equalizer was on the cards, dreadful defending allowed Hull to restore their two goal cushion on the stroke of half time.
Williamson's attempted clearing header ballooned up in the air, Garcia headed the ball over Richard Lee who had ventured into no mans land, and Barmby nudged the ball over the line ahead of two Watford defenders.
And with 20 minutes remaining, Folan booked Hull's Wembley date against Bristol City when he applied a neat headed finish to Sam Ricketts' cross.
Aidy Boothroyd's side then had to suffer further ignominy when Garcia waltzed through a demoralised Watford defence and fired past Lee and Doyle's deflected shot compounded their misery in injury time.
