Hatton aiming to bounce back

Ricky Hatton has vowed to cement his status as one of the greatest fighters of all time by bouncing back from the first defeat of his career against Juan Lazcano next Saturday. The 'Hitman' suffered his only defeat in December after a tenth-round knockout at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr in Las Vegas.

But he insists he will be back to his best for the upcoming bout in his native Manchester, in which he intends to defend his IBF light-welterweight title.

Hatton, 29, said: "Fighters are remembered as all-time greats by the manner in which they bounce back."

He told his Sky Sports blog ahead of the City of Manchester Stadium clash: "I felt really good in training - I thought I was flying, I felt that good."

Mexican Lazcano, known as the 'Hispanic causing panic', has lost just four of his 42 fights, but two of those came in the last four years - including his last clash against Guyana's Vivian Harris in February 2007.

Hatton added: "Lazcano's a seasoned pro and he hasn't got into any trash talking. That's how it should be."
