Woodhouse ready for action
Footballer-turned-boxer Curtis Woodhouse goes into his sixth professional fight on Saturday night looking to stretch his 100% winning record at the home of one of his former clubs, Sheffield United.Woodhouse, 28, takes on Manchester light-middleweight and fellow novice Dave Murray, who has won three and lost two of his five professional outings.
The Bramall Lane bout will serve as a warm-up for Woodhouse before appearing on the undercard of the Amir Kahn v Michael Gomez fight at the Birmingham NIA on June 21.
Former England Under-21 international Woodhouse said: "It is possible that I will be on live TV on the Khan show so I have to be ready because this is what I want and how I want it.
"A lot of people saw my first fight against Dean Marcantonio on ITV4, screened because of the novelty of a footballer boxing, but I cringe when I look at that now."
Woodhouse has upped his game since that night in September 2006, and has trained with the likes of former British champion and two-time WBO light-middleweight title challenger Ryan Rhodes.
He added: "As soon as Saturday is out of the way I am taking my family to the seaside for a couple of days and then by Wednesday I'll be back in the gym preparing for the next one."

Who would have thought that a former Football player would go on to become such a promising boxer? Curtis Woodhouse has done just that, and I have to wish him the best for it too! :)

If anyone can make that kind of career move, it would have to be Curtis Woodhouse! I would be interested to see how long his boxing career will last, and what titles he can manage.
