Capello hails captain Terry

England manager Fabio Capello has hailed John Terry after making the Chelsea defender his captain for the friendly international against USA. Terry has received the honour a week after missing a penalty in the Champions League Final that would have secured the Blues the trophy against Manchester United.

The decision comes as Capello continues his policy of rotating the armband, with Terry handed the chance as skipper following Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand.

And Capello believes the Chelsea captain has already proved that he is a real driving force on the pitch.

"John Terry is the captain for Wednesday and that was a decision I made before the Champions League Final," Capello explained.

"The first captain was Gerrard, then Ferdinand and now John Terry.

"I have seen him in the last few days and he looks very well. When I told him that he would be the captain he was very happy.

"To be the captain, I think it is very important to be a leader and John Terry is a leader."
