Chelsea fans not fearing mass exodus

Chelsea's formidable financial muscle will prevent the likes of Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba joining their former manager Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan, according to Chelsea fans.

The former Stamford Bridge supremo is reportedly keen on taking the key members of his title-winning Chelsea side to the Italian capital.

But Toby Brown, editor of cfcnet.co.uk, is not fearing a mass player exodus and believes Mourinho will be casting his net elsewhere.

He said: "Players such as Lampard had ties with the club before Mourinho joined. He was a core part of the success we enjoyed under Claudio Ranieri.

"In any case we are not a selling club. Arsenal lose players because they don't pay top wages but that's not the case with Chelsea.

"You also have to remember that when Mourinho joined us, he signed players he thought would be suited to the Premier League and I'm sure he'll adopt the same approach in Serie A. Lampard and Drogba might not be ideally suited to Italian football."

Roberto Mancini, the man who Mourinho replaced at Inter, is still being touted as strong contender to succeed Avram Grant in west London, but Brown is adamant he is not the man to take Chelsea forward.

He said: "Mancini is not the man for his job. Although his record looks excellent on paper it isn't as good as it might seem.

"He benefited massively from the scandal that saw Juventus relegated and AC Milan docked points, while Roma are a young developing side.

"He plays a negative brand of football and his record in Europe is appalling."

People can always look good on paper thats a given, but you really don't want a Jekyll and Hyde person playing and never know what to expect either. I fully see the reasoning for the comments made about being negative, really who wants that?

You know I often wonder if it's worth keep hold of people like that. If it's only money that's keeping them there-let them go. Without some kind of spark for the team, they won't perform their best anyway, and if they have decided they want out they definitely won't.
