Collins signs three-year deal with Toulon

Jerry Collins has become the latest New Zealander to seal a switch to the northern hemisphere, signing a three-year deal with French outfit Toulon. The flanker was released from his contract with the New Zealand Rugby Union last month as he looked to earn more money away from the southern hemisphere.

Collins, who it was thought was likely to join Heineken Cup champions Munster, follows in the footsteps of the likes of Aaron Mauger, Chris Jack and Luke McAlister in leaving the All Blacks behind.

And he is joining a New Zealand enclave at the newly-promoted Top 14 club, who boast Tana Umaga as the club's director of sport, while Andrew Mehrtens, Anton Oliver, Saimone Taumoepeau and Nathan Mauger are all on the playing staff.
