Calderon: Madrid will not pay £80m for Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo's on-going transfer saga has taken another twist after Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon slammed reports suggesting he would sanction an £80m move for Manchester United's Portuguese star. It is believed only an enormous sum would persuade United to cash in on the unsettled winger.
That would almost double the world record transfer fee, which stands at £46m, the sum Madrid paid Juventus for Zinedine Zidane in 2001,but Calderon has gone against the wishes of his coach, Bernd Schuster, who said Madrid should 'pay whatever it takes' to land Ronaldo.
And Calderon insists he has been told the player is simply not for sale by the Old Trafford heirachy.
"There is no 'Cristiano Ronaldo case' because Manchester (United) do not want to sell," Calderon told Spanish newspaper Marca.
"In any case, Real Madrid will never pay 100million euros for anybody."
