Redknapp: Crouch price too high
Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has admitted he is struggling to negotiate a fee for Liverpool forward Peter Crouch after having a £9m bid turned down. Crouch has been pushed to the periphery of the Liverpool first-team by the fine form of Fernando Torres and Rafael Benitez's decision to use only one striker.
And Redknapp, who managed Crouch during his spells at both Portsmouth and Southampton, wants to bring him to the FA Cup winners - but admits he is struggling to afford the England international.
"I'd love to bring Crouchie back here," Redknapp told Portsmouth News.
"We are trying to do deals to bring in players and chief executive Peter Storrie is working on trying to get things done.
"But the fee seems a bit too high, and at the end of the day it comes down to the price."
