Roberts shows Cubs what they're missing
Brian Roberts showed just why the Chicago Cubs were so keen to sign him as he made three hits to reach 1,000 for his career as the Baltimore Orioles beat the Cubs 7-5 at Wrigley Park. The Cubs staged a fine comeback to run the visitors close, though, having been 7-1 down at one stage.
But closer George Sherrill struck out the Cubs after they had loaded the bases to record his 26th save.
Roberts appeared bemused after the game, which was unsurprising as in the build-up he had said: "I thought I was going to be a Cub in December.
"I didn't know what was going to happen. Once the season started you just kinda go out and play your spot and the rest will take care of itself. I really haven't thought about in a long time."
But he looked on the positive after the game: "It's a great atmosphere," he said.
"The fans love their baseball. … What we dealt with for four months you think about it a little bit. It's just a fun night to be part of."
