Hamilton: I struggle with media demands but they will love me again
Lewis Hamilton has admitted he struggles to deal with the demands of the media but insists they will fall back in love with him again when he rediscovers his best form. The McLaren driver proved immensely popular in his first year in Formula One and enjoyed nearly universal support.
But the Englishman has been heavily criticised this season after crashing into Kimi Raikkonen in the Canadian Grand Prix two weeks ago and performing poorly in France last weekend.
And Hamilton admits he finds it tough to speak to the press straight after a race, but is adamant he will get back on track - starting at next weekend' s British Grand Prix - and says the press will support him once more.
"You've just done an hour and a half race and worked your backside off, and then they expect you to sit down and straightaway get out of the car and talk to people," Hamilton told BBC Radio 5 Live when asked how he felt about commenting immediately after a race.
"Are you crazy? Damn man, I'm knackered! I need a drink! Sometimes I like to do that.
"But I feel that I've had so much support from the media, especially last year and in the build-up to this year, and I know that with the performance that I'll have coming up, I feel that they'll be back on my side and they'll continue supporting me."
