Villa 'almost certainly' out of Euro 2008 Final
David Villa has almost certainly been ruled out of the Euro 2008 Final with a thigh injury, it has been announced. The Spanish striker, the tournament's top scorer with four goals, suffered the injury in the first-half of Thursday's 3-0 semi-final win over Russia.
His injury is likely to allow Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who starred as his replacement, to start against Germany, after team doctor Jesus Jimenez confirmed the initial diagnosis of the Valencia forward.
"He has almost been ruled out, the tests done in hospital revealed a small tear to the muscle in the back of his right thigh," said Jimenez.
"In normal circumstances he would be out of action for between a week and 10 days.
"He couldn't play today, but he is not totally ruled out yet even though it is very unlikely he will play. He could be on the bench for the game however.
"He is receiving physiotherapy and we'll assess him again on Saturday, but as I said he will almost certainly not be able to play."

Its good that he is not ruled out right now. A friend is over there eon vacation going to almost all games and keeps emailing to tell me "Did you hear about...." so this was the latest of all the crazy things going on. I hope the guy can end up playing hes damn good.

They'd be a fool to have him play too soon and end up with a worse performance and possible further time out with injuries in the future. I hope that they use sense and just give him time to heal, even though yes, it will hurt the game.
