Lehmann will deliver for Germany in Euro Final - Wenger

Arsene Wenger is backing Jens Lehmann to play a key part for Germany in the Euro 2008 Final against Spain despite suffering a drop in form in the semi-final. Arsenal keeper Lehmann, who is set to join Stuttgart after the tournament, endured a miserable time against Turkey as he conceded two poor goals in a nerve-wracking 3-2 victory.

But having survived that nightmare Wenger believes the 38-year-old will prove his critics wrong yet again in the final in Vienna on Sunday.

Wenger, speaking as ambassador for Euro 2008 sponsors Castrol, said: "I feel overall that Jens had a good tournament until the last game when he had a poor game

"I know Jens very well. I observed him as he came off the pitch and he knew he had a bad game. But one of his qualities is that he is mentally very strong. When he has his back to the wall he can deliver. When he's under pressure he's one of the best players i've seen under pressure. I'm sure he will deliver in the final."
