Elmander delighted at 'dream move' to Bolton Wanderer

Swedish international forward Johan Elmander has expressed his delight at signing for Bolton Wanderers in a move that broke the Premier League club's transfer record. The 27-year-old former Toulouse star, believed to have cost the club £11m, says that a switch to Bolton is "a dream move".

Elmander, who penned a three-year deal on Friday, is looking forward to linking up with his new team-mates when they all return for pre-season training next month.

He said: "The first time I heard about Bolton being interested in me was in January. They really wanted to buy me and I was very flattered by that. I had heard about the club before, they played really well in the UEFA Cup last season.

"It was a few weeks ago when I was talking to my agent that he again mentioned Bolton were interested and I felt a good feeling in my body right away.

"It's difficult to explain but it's just a feeling you have when something feels right and then I also met Gary [Megson, the Bolton manager] and there was more positive energy coming to me. I was really happy to meet him as he was a really nice person and I think he's going to be a really good manager for Bolton Wanderers."

Elmander revealed that his international team-mate Christian Wilhelmsson helped him make up his mind, adding: "I spoke to Christian before I decided to join Bolton and he said many positive things about the club. I have seen Bolton play many times on the TV in Sweden.

"It's a dream I've been having since I was a small child to play in the Premier League one day. The Premier League is the best league in the world so this move is a dream come true for me.

"I am a player who will always fight for 90 minutesm I always give my best and always play for the team. I think it will take me a bit of time to come into the team but when I do I will do my best and score many goals for them.

"I know a few players who are already at the club: Jussi Jaaskelainen, Gretar Steinsson and El Hadji Diouf. I'm going to go home now and look at my computer and learn all the names!

"I'm really looking forward to training with the team and I can't wait to run out there and hear the crowd when they are cheering."
