Ferrari: Drivers won't harm each other's chances
Kimi Raikkonen will change his Ferrari's engine ahead of this weekend's British Grand Prix, while team principal Stefano Domenicali has refuted suggestions that the Finn and his fellow driver, Felipe Massa, could hinder each other in their fight for the Championship. An exhaust problem in France last time out forced Raikkonen to hand Massa victory.
Massa now leads the table by two points from BMW-Sauber's Robert Kubica, with reigning champion Raikkonen a further three points back heading into this weekend's British Grand Prix.
And Domenicali has admitted he will use the 'one free engine change' rule to ensure Raikkonen receives no ten-place grid penalty and insists his two drivers will not trip each other up.
"As far as Kimi's engine is concerned and keeping the rules in mind, to avoid a enalty, I think that we will use a new unit to try to reduce the risk," Domenicali told Ferrari's official website.
"I hear from time to time that it might be difficult to have two drivers fighting against each other and at the same time against the drivers of the other teams. But I don't agree at all.
"When you work in great harmony and transparency inside the team and having two drivers, who can fight for the title, I'd say it's a resource and not a handicap.
"McLaren might have something up the sleeve in terms of performance, while BMW has shown some consistency in terms of results.
As far as the drivers' championship is concerned there are four drivers on the list. And we are glad that two come from our team."
