Raikkonen confirms engine change for Silverstone

Kimi Raikkonen has confirmed he will change his engine for this weekend's British Grand Prix after a broken exhaust dashed his hopes of winning the French Grand Prix two weeks ago. The reigning world champion will do so without penalty by taking advantage of the 'one free engine change' rule introduced this year.

Raikkonen is in third place in the standings, just five points behind team-mate and title leader Felipe Massa heading into the race at Silverstone, but insists he will continue with his positive approach.

The Finn said: "I'll use a new engine because the team doesn't want to risk anything."

"I'll arrive with a positive approach at Silverstone, because I know that I should have won at Magny Cours."

A new engine is a good choice. It would be a shame for something to happen if he were not to switch out.
