Wigan sell Granqvist to FC Groningen
Wigan have sold defender Andreas Granqvist to Ducth club FC Groningen for a fee of around £800,000. The 23-year-old has signed a four-year deal after spending the end of last season on loan at his former club, Helsingborgs IF, and he was in the Sweden squad that was knocked out of Euro 2008 at the group stage.
Following the signings of Ajilore Oluwafemi from FC Midtjylland and Gonzalo García-García from sc Heerenveen the club insists they have completed all their signings ahead of the new season.
"We've spent five million euros on these three players and we have no more funds for new players for the moment", said director Hans Nijland.
"Although it is relatively quiet on the transfer market, we can be very happy that our squad is now complete."
