Bruce refuses to be drawn on Johnson speculation
Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce has refused to be drawn on whether Andy Johnson will be leaving Goodison Park for the JJB Stadium. Speculation has linked England striker Johnson with a move to the JJB Stadium for the last fortnight but Bruce was remaining tightlipped on the player's future.
Bruce said:" Newspapers have had a field day and radio stations have as well but I am never going to comment on any player who is contracted to another football club because I don't like it about my own players.
"I know all about AJ that is for sure and there has been a lot of speculation but I think it is wrong for me to comment."
Bruce also added his condemnation to the slavery comments made by FIFA President Sepp Blatter.
When referring to Cristiano Ronaldo's ongoing transfer saga, Blatter has said footballers are "modern day slaves" if they are made to stay at a club where they are not happy.
His words have been criticised by the PFA and other members of Blatter's own FIFA board and Bruce was quick to add his opinions that Blatter's thoughts are wrong.
He said: "I don't agree with Sepp Blatter's comments on them being slaves because I believe they have the best job in the world.
"If they are slaves what the hell are the rest of us? They have got a good job."
