ToteSport is the online sports betting of The Tote. Betfred recently acquired the Tote for £265 million and the company has been awarded an exclusive seven year license to operate pools betting on UK racecourses. ToteSport’s look and feel is very much targeted at its parent company’s long history with horse racing and the British sports betting audience. ToteSport is working to build the same reputation for football, constantly expanding their already extensive league coverage and offering enhanced betting specials every week. They offer the unique option of playing the popular racecourse and bookmaker pool bets - ‘Tote Scoop 6’ ‘Tote Jackpot’ and “Tote Placepot’. ToteSport is licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission.

Site Layout & User Experience

ToteSport has recently re-launched their site from what was historically recognized as a very simple, almost dry look and feel. They have added a lot more contextual content around their betting offers, and the site is now easier on the eye. ToteSport dose not offer live video links around its multitude of horse racing markets. ToteSport does offer the excellent Tote Radio, which is a radio service that allows players to follow racing and football live, along with major race previews and daily roundups. ToteSport is not currently available across any mobile devices.

Range of Betting Options

ToteSport’s main focus is horse racing, which is not hidden by the fact that they have a separate tab dedicated to ‘Racing’. They offer more horse racing markets than any other sportsbook. All players are able to participate in all Tote pools markets available in UK racecourses and betting shops. However, there is a lack of markets available across other sports, and those sports are very much tailored to the UK customer. The average stakes accepted online are also lower than those seen with other bookmakers.

In-Running Focus

ToteSport’s flash based in-running section is highly impressive. It features a helpful left hand navigation bar showing all live events with current scores. The absence of live streams in this in-running section is a major deterrent. Competitors, such as Bet365, have now set an expectation amongst in-running players that after placing a bet, they should be able to watch the action within the portal. ToteSport seems unwilling to take that step.<

Promotions

ToteSport offers a free sign up bonus up to the value of £50; you just have to register and place a bet of £10 or more. Then players receive a free bet of an equal amount. The initial bet has to be greater than or equal to the initial value. Players have to wager 40 times their bonus in order to convert it into actual cash. They also offer players a number of regular betting promotions on a weekly basis, including enhanced win prices on selected horse races and improved place dividends.

Support

ToteSport offers support via email and telephone, but not ‘Live Chat’ facility. Support levels are advertised as 24/7, but often waiting times to their call centre can be unacceptably lengthy.

Payment

The variety of payment options that ToteSport offer is very limited. Unfortunately only Visa, MasterCard, and Maestro are permitted as deposit options with no e-wallet solutions made available to players. Currency options are also quite limited with only the UK pound and the euro being accepted.
