The show brings in millions of viewers and airs every day of the week aside from Saturday during its short November-December yearly tenure. The winning celebrity is generally crowned around the second week of December depending on the start date of the show. Of course you can! Specials betting markets such as The X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing are expanding all the time and I'm a Celebrity is no exception. Most of the top specials bookmakers will offer various bets while the show is on ranging from the outright winner market to the next eviction market.
I'm a Celebrity often drifts out of the collective public subconscious in the New Year before rearing its head again in late October as the media begins to speculate as to who will appear on the lineup. It is at this time that bookmakers will start to list their markets. In fact, I'm a Celebrity betting is so popular that you can often bet on the winner before they've been confirmed to be taking part!
You can bet on I'm a Celebrity in a number of different ways:
Since 2002 over 198 celebrities have competed in the series. Each season producers meet with between 60 and 90 potential celebrities. Since the show's inception producers have kept a standby list of celebrities who are either already in or ready to go to Australia at a given moment. This is to account for some celebrities leaving the show early on medical grounds (or simply being fed up!) and also gives the producers the option of spicing things up with a new campmate at any point they please.
Many have leveled criticism at the producers of I'm a Celebrity for some of the 'bushtucker trials' (challenges the celebrities have to endure). Animals and insects play a big part and there is a bug-breeding factory specifically for the production of the show in which millions of insects along with hundreds of rats, spiders and snakes are bred each year.
Animal rights criticism was best highlighted in 2009 when celebrity chef (and eventual winner) Gino D'Acampo and actor Stuart Manning were charged by New South Wales Police for killing, cooking and eating a rat. In recent years the producers have improved the trials and created a less distressing environment for the animals used.
