A very lucky online customer of William Hill's bookmaker has walked away with winnings of over £200,000 after staking a total of just £15.84 in a series of 1p and 2p accumulator bets on Sunday’s horse racing. The savvy punter from the home counties, who wished to remain anonymous, won £111,294 from a 2p bet by selecting eight horses to finish in the top four in eight different races.
He added to this massive prize haul with a spectacular series of 1p accumulators on eleven horses to finish first in three Sunday circuits, using combinations of four, five, six, eight and eleven selections. Although only eight of the eleven horses, including 10/1 Sky Lantern ridden by Richard Hughes, finished in top spot in their respective races, the optimistic online customer managed to take his total winnings for the day to a whopping £209,731.
While the prosperous punter wished to keep his identity a secret, he did reveal his plans for his new found wealth: “I’ve had a couple of four-figure wins in the past, but I never expected this. I’m going to chill out over the next few days thinking about how to spend the money, but it’ll go a long way in the current climate. I’ll probably pay off the mortgage, and I’m a bit of a car fan, so I might see about a vintage sports car.”
Upon finding out about the win, Kate Miller, PR Director for William Hill, said, “This is one of the luckiest bets we’ve ever seen. Accumulators are incredibly popular bets to place and a couple of times a year we’ll be hit by a large winner, but to see one with penny stakes is almost unique.”
If you fancy trying to better this bold horse racing accumulator win, log on to William Hill today and take advantage of their competitive odds.
