The NFL hits Thanksgiving week, which means three games on Thanksgiving Day followed by a smaller slate of Sunday games. This also marks the beginning of the stretch run to the NFL playoffs. Here’s a look at our favorite against-the-spread NFL betting plays for Week 12:
Odds: Bears -3 at Karamba
The Bears are coming off a huge win in prime-time and this feels like it could be a letdown spot. They’re facing a Detroit Lions team that they blew out a couple of weeks ago and they might come into this game expecting an easy win. What hurts their case is the odd news that quarterback Mitchell Trubisky could miss this contest. Chase Daniel figures to be a step down for the Bears – even though he’s quite familiar with head coach Matt Nagy’s system.
Detroit has won two straight and 17 of the last 26 meetings at home in this series. Their season is on the line here and I expect them to play like it. Getting Detroit them +3 is appealing enough for me to take a shot with the Bears possibly overlooking their opponent given their big win last week.
Odds: Bucs -3.5 at 888sport
The Buccaneers could not beat the lowly New York Giants. They have also announced that Jameis Winston will start for the team over Ryan Fitzpatrick for this upcoming game against San Francisco. No reasonable person could look at the Buccaneers and see a remotely functional situation.
No reasonable person could look at what Tampa Bay is doing and think that this team is in a good position to win this game. The Buccaneers have been going back and forth between starting Winston and Fitzpatrick this season but the issue is that they have no running game and no defense. The Bucs rank 27th in the NFL in rushing yards per game and their defense is dead-last in points per game (32.9).
The San Francisco 49ers have done their best to be competitive despite the absence of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. They haven’t won many games but you can see that they’re still fighting for their head coach. Quarterback Nick Mullens has given the team a little shot in the arm. Coming off a bye, they should be in good shape to push for the win here. Bet the 49ers with the points at 888sport.
Odds: Bengals -3 at Karamba
The Bengals haven’t merely lost four of their last five. What is much more alarming about Cincinnati’s trajectory is that it just lost to a backup quarterback making his first NFL start last week. They lost to the Baltimore Ravens on a day when Lamar Jackson replaced Joe Flacco and Jackson wasn’t even working as a passer. The Ravens ran him 27 times and the Bengals knew it was coming, yet they couldn’t slow him down.
Taking a look back, Cincinnati was lucky to beat Miami (came back from 17-0), they were lucky to beat Atlanta (last-second win) and they were also pretty lucky to beat Tampa Bay and Baltimore, nearly blowing huge leads. This team is just very average. I’ll take a shot with the Browns here who are coming off a bye and are generally upbeat after their big win over Atlanta. Bet the Browns to beat the spread at Karamba .
Odds: Patriots -9 at 888sport
This is a bad spot for the Jets. We’ve got a New England Patriots team that is not only coming off a bye but is fresh off one of their ugliest performances of the season. They were blown out by the Tennessee Titans two weeks ago. Now they’ll have a full two weeks to prepare for a Jets team that is circling the drain.
The Jets have lost four in a row and have been pitiful on offense in those contests. They’ve scored a total of 26 points in their last three games while averaging 10.8 points over the last month. On top of that, their quarterback situation is questionable with Sam Darnold banged up.
The Patriots are 12-3 ATS in their last 15 versus teams with a losing record and 3-1 ATS in their last four off a bye. Bet New England to win and cover here at 888sport.
