Playtech's playpen of iGaming sites has just got a little bit fuller thanks to a new deal with News UK that brings two major bingo sites, Sun Bingo and Fabulous Bingo.
Known for its excellence within the industry, Playtech now powers many of the major casino, poker and sportsbook platforms, and this latest coup will see the software giant take control of two leading bingo brands under its auxiliary company, Virtue Fusion.
Announced at the close of November, the deal between Playtech and News UK (the parent company of Sun Bingo and Fabulous Bingo) will not only bring a slew of innovations to the two bingo sites, but give both companies a healthy financial boost heading into 2016.
Indeed, as talk of the deal and its potential ramifications began to filter through the stock markets, Playtech's shares went up by 0.44% to 802.00 pence and continued to trade high long after the initial buzz had worn off.
From a practical perspective, the full details of the deal haven't been released, but Playtech's chief executive, Mor Weizer, suggested the deal will be completed by 2016, at which point all existing players will have been transferred to the Playtech Network. Weizer also gave a general insight into some of the planned changes that will take place, but declined to go into specific detail at this point.
"The Playtech-powered Sun Bingo will use cutting-edge technology to offer best-performing and highly innovative bingo and side games, with fantastic promotions and prizes and the industry's largest jackpots," explained Weizer.
Although this deal includes the rights to host Fabulous Bingo, it's the procurement of Sun Bingo that Playtech will regard as an early Christmas present. Established in 2005, the site was able to use its media presence and brand to ride the initial bingo boom under the guidance of Tombola.
After outgrowing its operator and wanting to become a solid platform in its own right, Sun Bingo migrated over to the Gamesys platform in 2008. Under the Gamesys banner Sun Bingo was able to blossom into one of the largest online bingo platforms in the industry and picked up a plethora of awards, including BingoPort's "Best Overall Bingo Site" in 2013 and Which Bingo's "Best Chat Team" in 2014.
However, following Gamesys' sale to the Intertain Group earlier this year, Sun Bingo was left looking for a new place to host its players. That need for change opened the door for Playtech to court the proverbial 'sun gods' and win their affections.
Sun Bingo and Fabulous Bingo will now join a host of leading online brands – including Mecca Bingo, Gala Bingo, and Coral Bingo – as part of Playtech's bingo division, Virtue Fusion. These latest additions will therefore be in good company when they complete their migration to Playtech next summer.
In fact, aside from being among the leading names in the industry, Sun Bingo and Fabulous Bingo will benefit from daily player peaks of 60,000, average concurrent on-site activity of 13,000 players, a wide variety of gaming options, including Deal or No Deal Bingo, and progressive jackpots worth thousands.
