Last June, the major news broke that the popular bookmaker William Hill was not renewing their betting partnership with The Football Association after a four year stint. Now two months later, William Hill has spent the week securing betting partnerships with three of the Premier League's top clubs.
The first club William Hill secured a deal with this week was Everton, followed closely by Tottenham. The bookmaker ended the week on their highest note, announcing earlier today their three year deal to the become the official betting partner of Chelsea FC, one of the top clubs in the world, not just the League.
Losing a betting partnership like the one William Hill had with The FA can certainly have its adverse effects. William Hill no longer holds in-stadium betting rights to the famed Wembley Stadium, nor will they be the official betting partner of the England National Team or The FA Cup like they've been since 2012.
Fortunately, ending a betting partnership with a solid strategy moving forward can have its benefits as well. Thanks to a wealth of planning leading up to the end of their FA deal, William Hill as able to waste no time in filling that void in the form of deals with three of the Premier League's top clubs.
Now in place of Wembley, William Hill holds exclusive in-stadium betting rights to three of England's most well-known pitches, Goodison Park, White Hart Lane and Stamford Bridge, and will be featured on adverts all around each one. William Hill will also now offer exclusive odds on each teams' games, so despite the major lose of the The FA partnership, William Hill seems to be filling the void just fine.
William Hill might be ending the week with a bang but the spark started earlier this week when the UK-based bookmaker announced their new deals to become the official betting partner of both the Premier League's Everton FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC.
Although many will look to the Chelsea partnership as the major win for the bookmaker, securing deals with these two well-established Premier League teams shouldn't be scoffed at. Everton is one of the founding clubs of the English Premier League while the Hotspur hold several coveted records within the League many clubs could only dream of touting.
All three deals see William Hill gaining exclusive in-stadium betting rights to the clubs' home pitches on game day, offering unique odds on all the teams' matches and featuring adverts all throughout the teams' venues. But the Everton deal is a bit more involved in that William Hill announced they will also be assisting in the renovation of Goodison Park's betting concourse.
Securing the betting partnership of any Premier League club is a goal of most top bookmakers but securing three in one week with the third one being Chelsea, well that's just a dream come true. Sealing deals with upper echelon Premier League teams like Everton and Tottenham is always ideal but securing a deal with one of the top, if not THE top team in the League is obviously the pinnacle.
Since 2003, when billionaire Roman Abramovich took ownership of the club, Chelsea FC has won the EPL four times, The FA Cup four times, the Football League Cup twice, the FA Community Shield twice, the Europa League once and the Champions League once, including six different years where they won multiple crowns in a season.
Combined with those gaudy numbers are the massive transfer fees the club has incurred as they built the powerhouse club people see today. Thanks to an endless list of super stars and championships, Chelsea FC has established itself as a premier team in a league of the world's best.
The connection to such a notable club is clear but the betting partnership obviously has more perks for William Hill to enjoy. The bookmaker will see a wealth of their adverts scattered around Stamford Bridge while also hosting a match-day betting service at the stadium for fans to place bets before and during the game.
If you're a fan of one of these teams or simply enjoy betting the EPL, head over to William Hill today to find all sorts of exclusive odds on these three topnotch Premier League teams and the upcoming EPL season!
