Gala Bingo, one of the largest live and online bingo operators in the UK, has recently joined the Senet Group in a bid to improve player safety standards. Founded in 2014, the Senet Group is an independent watchdog that oversees the conduct of its members when it comes to advertising standards, player protection and responsible gaming features.
Set up by four of the UK's top gambling operators – William Hill, Ladbrokes, Coral and Paddy Power – the Senet Group is now chaired by the Independent Standards Commissioner, Wanda Goldwag. Through a system of member contributions, Goldwag oversees various campaigns designed to ensure players receive the best service possible.
Since its formation, the Senet Group has only grown in stature and reputation. Following the announcement that Gala Bingo and its online subsidiary, Gala Interactive, will form part of the watchdog, a huge number of bingo players will now feel secure behind another layer of protection.
At present the Senet Group is made up of Paddy Power, Betfair, William Hill, Coral, Ladbrokes, Scotbet.com and Sky Betting & Gambling; all of which are major players in the sports betting and casino world. Now, with Gala Bingo a part of the group, another area of the iGaming industry is not only represented but will play an active part in raising the standards of service and protection for every player in the UK. Simon Wykes, CEO of Gala Leisure, explained:
"Bingo is recognised as being a community-based activity at the softest edge of gaming. As such, we place great importance on responsible gambling and can see the merits in working together as an industry rather than just as a sector within it. We look forward to working with the Senet Group in the interest of the industry and our customers."
To earn an iGaming licence from the UK Gambling Commission, operators must comply with a host of operating standards. One of the main areas all operators must show compliance in is responsible gaming. Features such as self-exclusions, permanent exclusions and self-imposed betting limits must all be present in order for a site to gain a licence from the UKGC.
Each member of the Senet Group has met these conditions en route to earning their UK iGaming licence, but the aim of the watchdog is to go above and beyond these standards in order to make the UK the leading iGaming hub in the world. Indeed, with gambling addiction and its portrayal in the mainstream media an ongoing concern for operators, Gala Bingo's decision to join the Senet Group will help to reconfirm its excellence with regards to responsible gaming.
By working with some of the industry's leading operators, Gala Bingo will be able to help raise the standards for excellence across the UK's iGaming industry as a whole.
