Grosvenor Debuts 'World's Smallest Traveling Casino' in Lead Up to Sportsbook Launch

The Rank Group, owners and operators of the Grosvenor brand, announced their debut of what they are claiming is the "world’s smallest traveling casino." The obvious promotional stunt features a traditional London cab outfitted to house a fully functioning casino table, a dealer, and the fortunate rider.

The World's Smallest Traveling Casino campaign was created and launched by Grosvenor to promote not only their premier brick-and-mortar gambling ventures but their online gambling products as well, most specifically their recently announced sportsbook.

The cab will travel the streets for three weeks picking up perspective passengers in London first, then moving onto Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and then Glasgow to finish the campaign.

The 'World's Smallest Traveling Casino' Campaign

Earlier this week, Grosvenor began teasing their launch of the World's Smallest Traveling Casino. The "casino" is actually a dealer and table installed within the back of functioning London cab. The inside of the car also features 2 televisions and a wet bar. The cab's unique casino design allows for Grosvenor to host a stellar one-man casino on the go.

Unlike the famed American show Cash Cab, Grosvenor's World's Smallest Traveling Casino does not just drive around picking up unsuspecting riders offering a unique casino experience. Instead, Grosvenor asks Londoners interested in riding in the casino to tweet ride requests to Grosvenor's official twitter account (@grosvenorcasino).

If chosen for a ride in the unbelievable cab, passengers have the option of a free ride to the Grosvenor Casino of their choice or a ride to somewhere else in the city but in exchange for an optional donation to Grosvenor’s designated charity, Carers Trust.

The overall campaign is geared towards promoting Grosvenor's online gambling products like Grosvenor Casino, as well as the brick-and-mortar gaming ventures. But it's one online product in particular Grosvenor is looking to promote and that's their soon-to-launch sportsbook offering. Grosvenor even signed former English cricket-great Phil Tufnel to help promote the cab’s debut.

Rank Group Wants Back in Betting Market

In January, the Rank Group announced their plans to launch a sportsbook through their heralded Grosvenor Casinos brand, meaning the 1.7 million UK players Grosvenor currently touts will have access to a their new premier sportsbook right alongside the topnotch online casino.

It was revealed during the announcement Grosvenor had secured a deal with the betting software solutions supplier Kambi to provide their sportsbook platform. Integrating with the Bede Gaming casino platform behind Grosvenor Casino should be a breeze for Kambi and allow for players to easily transition from product to product.

The Rank Group jumping back into the sports betting world comes at a bit of a surprise considering the gambling conglomerate only left the industry in 2013 after the sale of their Blue Square Sports to Betfair for £5 million. It would seem the 3 year hiatus from the industry was plenty for the group as they are ready to jump back in head-first with Grosvenor Sports.

Kambi Picks Up Steam

Some readers might not be particularly familiar with Kambi, the software provider building the sportsbook, but probably will be in the near future as Kambi has gone on a streak of securing deals for topnotch brands' expansion into sports betting.

In the last year, news has broke that three of the world's largest online casinos were looking to expand into the lucrative sports betting industry and have turned to Kambi for help. Leo Vegas, Mr Green, and now Grosvenor have all decided to expand outside of their already extremely successful online casinos to test the waters of online sportsbooks.

Leo Vegas and Mr Green are budding operators whom recently cleaned up at all the major industry award shows over the past few years. Their expansion into sports betting is more traditional in the sense they pushed their online casino to the top and now are looking for more but Grosvenor's owners were once at the top already with Blue Square and chose to leave.

Regardless of their reasoning to pull out a few years ago, the Rank Group is ready to put all it has behind their new Grosvenor sportsbook. A release date for the online bookmaker hasn't been officially set but is expected to be announced in the near future.
