The award-winning Swedish gaming operator Mr Green has recently launched a new responsible gaming tool called Green Gaming. The innovative tool will allow its customers to see their betting history, gambling behaviour and spending habits.
The online tool will be initially trialled in the UK market with plans to expand the tool to other jurisdictions. The hope is that it can evaluate player activity and caution customers if it identifies any indications of a problematic gambling pattern!
Known as the Green Gaming tool, it will ask players to complete a short survey, with questions revolving around what they believe highlights healthy and unhealthy gambling habits. The responses will be used as a marker against the customer’s own gambling activities.
The survey will also help notify players if they stray into the sort of area they have described as being detrimental. The Green Gaming tool can identify players who are at risk of unhealthy betting behaviour and ask that they set limits on the amount they can wager or the time they spend on the website.
It could potentially pause their playing for a short period if needded. It could also notify the customer relationship management team, who could halt marketing messages being sent to that players to reduce the temptation to embrace the ill-advised habits already highlighted.
Players who gamble online with Mr Green and opt to use the Green Gaming tool will be asked to complete a survey comprised of 13 questions, answering ‘yes’ or ‘no.’ The self-assessment test is confidential, and covers the following:
The Green Gaming tool will also give the online casino and online sportsbook greater insight into how best to market its services to individual customers while being a responsible gaming provider. Initially, it will be implemented within the online casino, with plans to integrate it into the sportsbook as well:
"It should feel safe to play at Mr Green, and Green Gaming has been a part of our business strategy since the foundation in 2007. We have high ambitions, and want to be the brand you associate with Green Gaming. Now, we are asking our customers to put on the seat belt and set the controls. With our new tool, we will be able to better understand our customers in so many dimensions, not just in mere financial terms."
Mr Green has created the new tool with the help of Swedish diagnostic software firm Sustainable Interaction, with added input from responsible gambling technology development expert Sebastian Gassner.
Based in Lund, Sustainable Interaction specialises in the field of responsible gaming and psychosocial health, and has developed a range of digital products and diagnostic tools for self-assessment and self-help.
The company has been creating these innovative products since the early days of the internet in 1999, translating its vast knowledge of behaviour and the theory and practice of teaching into tools for companies to use to diagnose and educate.
Its speciality is analysing what happens in behaviours when information is being communicated, with a team of specialists from a wide range of backgrounds including psychologists, therapists, media producers, designers and system developers:
"With Green Gaming we will be able to support our players making better decisions when playing. Gaming should be fun, entertaining and safe. Green Gaming is all about staying in control, not crossing the line between enjoyment and risky behaviour."
