Scientific Games has gone live with the first one of the independently-operated casinos throughout the Canadian province of Alberta. The Grand Villa Casino Edmonton went live with the system after the company had signed a comprehensive agreement with the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC). The agreement allows the company to install its casino management system in 28 Canadian casinos.
It's quite clear Alberta's governing bodies are satisfied with the system being implemented across all their brick-and-mortar casinos as Niaz Nejad, Chief Operating Officer of the AGLC, explained:
"Given the unique requirements of the AGLC and its various casino properties, we needed a system that could support the AGLC's multiple-service provider environment. We believe that Scientific Games' elite casino management system will provide us with the necessary support, and we look forward to seeing results."
The AGLC is based in St. Albert, Alberta, Canada and oversees the gaming and liquor industries in the province. It regulates and licenses the 28 independently-operated casinos including the maintenance of over 14,000 slot machines and 6,000 video lottery terminals, better known as VLT machines.
Scientific Games’ casino management systems will manage all of the slots games throughout Alberta, replacing the current competitive system. The company, a global leader in the gaming and lottery industries, will be installing the SDS slot accounting and player tracking system, as well as the “powerful and innovative” iVIEW 4 and iVIEW DM on-device messaging and player interface technology.
SDS is an integrated system for monitoring slots, other gaming devices and player activity at a casino property. The system has been in place for more than 35 years and according to the company website “has set the standard as the gaming industry’s most accurate, reliable, and innovative slot-accounting and player-tracking system."
iVIEW 4 is a next-gen player interface which showcases flexibility for enhancing player experiences and facilitating customer service and employee duties. iVIEW DM allows gaming operators to present content such as player account information, bonus offers and direct marketing communications right on the main game screen or top screen.
Cath Burns, Senior Vice President of Gaming Systems at Scientific Games, explained just how proud the team is their work has been recognized by the AGLC as an effective casino management system suitable for their jurisdiction:
"We are proud that our systems solutions were able to accommodate the particular requirements the AGLC had in administering the gaming aspect of its 28 casinos, while allowing the casino operators to maintain a certain level of autonomy in managing their individual properties. We are excited to have our casino management system implemented throughout the Alberta province and we look forward to our continued partnership with the AGLC."
