Kara Scott Signs Exclusive Sponsorship Deal with 888 Poker

In exciting news for online poker fans, PartyPoker Sports Stars Challenge winner Kara Scott has signed an exclusive sponsorship contract with 888 Poker. The online poker network moved to snap up the services of Scott after her four-year association with partypoker came to an end in 2014. And now the Canadian pro, who has pocketed more than $550,000 in career earnings, is getting ready for an exciting new future as the face of the company.

Scott's Reactions

Scott was clearly excited about her new partnership wile speaking with reporters:

"I’m a big believer in just how much fun poker can be, and adore being involved with the recreational side of the game, as well as the more serious side. Joining the 888 Poker team is a fantastic milestone for my career and I feel honoured to be representing such a key player in the poker industry. I’m also really excited to be a part of their impressive team of ambassadors. I am looking forward to a bright and successful future with 888 Poker."

888poker are equally as delighted to be working with Scott, who blazed a trail for female players globally when she became only the second woman in history to finish in the money at two consecutive years of the World Series of Poker. Itai Pazner, Senior Senior Vice President of 888, explained their excitement for Kara joining the team:

"All of us here at 888 Poker are thrilled that Kara has joined our team. Her achievements and outlook on the game and the industry are exactly what 888 Poker stands for and we look forward to having her on board."

Poker Face

The 40-year-old started her poker career on the other side of the camera, working as a host and colour commentator for Sky Poker. A noted amateur player, Scott was soon convinced to try her hand in the professional ranks, and in August 2008 she decided to turn pro after winning the celebrity heat of the PartyPoker World Women's Open, where she finished sixth in a hotly-contested final.

Subsequent strong performances, including her victorious run at the PartyPoker Sports Star Challenge, ensured that Scott qualified for the 2008 World Series of Poker, where she placed 104th out of more than 6,000 players and picked up a cheque for $41,816. To date, Scott’s career earnings exceed $550,000.

These successes were no doubt welcome proof that Scott, known in the industry as a former TV presenter, has what it takes to enter the competitive world of professional poker playing. Responding to critics in 2009, she said:

"I know a lot of people don't think I can play and there are always going to be people who say I can't. But I have made the final of a female championship, I won a Sports Star Challenge, I went deep in the World Series of Poker Main Event and now I've come second in the Irish Open."

New Horizons

Scott’s tournament triumphs quickly caught the attention of partypoker, who offered her a sponsorship deal in 2010. And after she decided to end her association with the brand in 2014, it wasn't long before 888 Poker approached her for this exciting new ambassadorial role.
