Big3 Championship 2018 Betting Tips: Power v. 3’s Company

Quick Tips:
The semifinals have come and gone and for the second consecutive year the Big3’s regular season champion will compete for a title. But we did have an upset last week, which could create some real intrigue for the championship game on Friday.
In case you’re just getting in on the Big3 betting action, here’s a recap of the two teams in the championship game, followed by our pick to take home the crown in Year 2.
Power Has Plenty of It, Eyeing Wire-to-Wire Title
The Big3’s best regular season team looked like the Big3’s best postseason team in the semifinals, using their triple threat of Corey Maggette, Glen Davis and Cuttino Mobley to slip past sneaky Tri-State. They haven’t lost since Week 3, reeling off six straight victories to get to the championship game.
Maggette continues to be the leading force, as his 16 points were a team-high last week, and it’s tough to see anyone matching the inside-out balance of Maggette and Mobley with Davis and Chris “Birdman” Andersen.
And don’t sleep on Mobley’s defense, as the 42-year-old sharpshooter was fifth in the league in blocks per game (Andersen was first). This team has it all. 888sport lists them as the clear favorites at -155. The favorites won it all a year ago, and it’d be surprising if it didn’t happen a second straight year.
3’s Company Wants to Prove the New Guys are For Real
We told you last week that there was a very good version of 3’s Company and a very bad version of 3’s Company. Well, in the semifinals the very, very good version showed up. Led by 27 points from Baron Davis, 3’s Company smoked the 3-Headed Monsters by a whopping 22 points, 50-28. In fact, despite it being a matchup of the No. 2 and 3 seeds, it was tied for the largest margin of victory for a team all year.
Simply put, it was a blowout and it gives them some real momentum heading into the title game. A healthy Davis could make all the difference for a team that’s won three of its last four games by a combined 62 points. Andre Emmett is a serious MVP candidate, and Emmett and Davis are the only teammates both averaging at least 15 points per game. They’re a respectable +110 on 888Sport to knock off top-seeded Power.
Who’s the Pick?
Unsurprisingly, these are the two hottest teams in the league. They’ll square off for the first time since Week 2, when Power earned a 50-44 victory that wasn’t as close as the score suggested. That suggests Power will have the advantage on Friday, but Emmett and Davis are both night-and-day different from that Week 2 meeting; Emmett had just eight points in that game, but is averaging 21.4 points over the last five weeks.
Combine that with Davis, who had 27 points in that Week 2 meeting and is rested and rolling, and you’ve got our pick to cut down the nets in Year 2 of the Big3. Maggette, Mobley and Davis are for real, as their 8-1 record suggests, but 3’s Company should get enough out of Drew Gooden and Jason Maxiell defensively to let Emmett and Davis work. We’ll ride 3’s Company’s momentum and lock them in as our pick.
You should take the (slight) upset and 3’s Company at +110 on 888Sport.
