I'm A Celebrity 2019 - Betting Tips, Odds & Analysis
The 19th series of ITV’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here got underway on Sunday 17th November and 11.2 million people tuned in to see the curtain-raiser which had been subject of much speculation in regards to the contestant line-up. The show is definitely one of the most popular specials betting events of the year
Ultimately, very few of those touted as a potential contender entered the jungle and there was no space for John Bercow the former Speaker of the House of Commons and Made In Chelsea’s Jamie Laing was another that did not live up to press speculation that they would enter the jungle.
The most expensive signing was probably Caitlyn Jenner, a transgender former decathlete famous for her role in Keeping Up with the Kardashians. But, not for the first time, there are a number of campmates who struggle to fulfill the description of recognisable ‘celebrity’.Three of the dozen 2019 contenders are radio presenters, just consider that!
You have to be immediately drawn to a candidate who has their celebrity roots planted in Reality TV and sadly, in 2019, none of the dozen hopefuls do. Here is the line-up and their odds as of 22/11/2019.
|Adele Roberts||BBC Radio 1 & Big Brother||80/1|
|Caitlyn Jenner||Olympian & Reality TV||8/1|
|Ian Wright||Former Footballer||12/1|
|Jacqueline Jossa||East Enders||7/1|
|Kate Garraway||TV Presenter||10/1|
|Cliff Parisi||East Enders||20/1|
|Andy Whyment||Coronation Street||2/1|
Celeb Standing Cannot Guarantee Love
However, in shows of this ilk, the history books are an invaluable guide to narrowing down the field and in I’m a Celeb those statistics underline the size of ‘celebrity’ pre-event has little bearing on individual’s progress within the show.
In 2014 former motorbike racer Carl Fogarty won the competition. He had been retired for 14 years at the time and the Superbike World Championship was not universally popular when he was winning it during the 1990’s. Similarly 12 months ago broadcasting legend Noel Edmunds joined the jungle on Day 5 for a reported fee of £600,000 yet he was the first person to be voted out of the jungle!
I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here Stats:
- Biggest winning percentage: 83.42% – Gino D'Acampo Series 9
- Closest winning percentage: 50.56% – Charlie Brooks Series 12
- Total contestants to-date (excluding 2019): 209
Historical Form Is the Best Pointer
As the last series of I’m a Celeb was the most successful in terms of viewership producers have unsurprisingly made no changes to the shows format in 2019 – a gas fire replacing the old log campfire being the only exception. There are a dozen contestants once again and the show started off with two camps which quickly morphed into one.
This should mean previous results remain the best form pointers and they read as follows:
|2017||Georgia Toffolo||Reality TV||24||London|
|2016||Scarlett Moffatt||Reality TV||26||Durham|
|2015||Vicky Pattison||Reality TV||28||Newcastle|
|2014||Carl Fogarty||Motorbike Racer||49||Lancashire|
|2013||Kian Egan||Pop Star||33||Ireland|
|2012||Charlie Brooks||East Enders||31||Hertfordshire|
|2011||Dougie Poynter||Pop Star||23||Essex|
|2009||Gino D’Acampo||Breakfast TV/Chef||33||Italian|
|2008||Joe Swash||East Enders||26||London|
|2007||Chris Biggins||Kids TV||58||Southampton|
|2006||Matt Willis||Pop Star||23||London|
|2003||Kerry Katona||Pop Star||23||Cheshire|
Whilst two former winners were in East Enders, soap stars have a poor record in this contest overall: A total of ten East Enders actors have taken part in the show, None of the five candidates representing Coronation Street have been successful, it’s zero from five in regards to Emmerdale and another fat zero from the five contenders who once appeared in Hollyoaks.
But the London and Essex passport is a clear visa for success. Only four previous winners have come from north of Milton Keynes which indicates London’s huge population votes for its own. Likewise, the 21-33 age bracket has given us 11 of the past 18 winners which says a lot about the opinions of the all-important voters.
And the Winner Is…
So who is the most likely winner of the 2019 series of I’m a Celeb? Punters initially loved Ian Wright – a Londoner and football pundit like last year’s winner – making him the early 5/2 favorite. But he has drifted out alarmingly during the show’s first five days and is already out to 12/1 with Coral.
Andrew Whyment is the new favourite but there are countless reasons to oppose him. The actor, who plays Kirk Sutherland in Coronation Street (a negative), is over-aged at 38 and he was also a late arrival in the show. Late arrivals – there is always two every season – rarely win.

At 27 Jacqueline Jossa has the age box ticked and she is from London too, but she’s another soap actress and her whinging, tears and buck-passing ways will surely quickly wear thin with viewers and voters. She can be backed at 7/1 with Betway.
So Roman Kemp, 9/2 with William Hill, is probably the best bet at this stage. 26, with London listed as his home town and an affable nature he surely rates a bet-to-lay proposition at the very least. The I’m a Celeb series last 22 days and it is difficult not to see him involved at the business end of the show.
Conversely the only American contestant Caitlyn Jenner, currently an 8/1 third-favorite with Ladbrokes, looks a complete and utter take on. There has never been an American winner of this show (only once did an American win Celebrity Big Brother amongst scores of attempts).
The Best Betting Line Is the Phone Votes
Everything will become much clearer when the first phone votes are made. Last year’s winner, Harry Redknapp, received the most votes in each and every one of ten public votes. Remarkably Georgia Toffolo, the 2017 I’m a Celebrity winner completed the same clean sweep as did Scarlett Moffatt who won the competition in 2016 and Vicky Pattison in 2015.
If the history books are any kind of guide making money on this show is as simple as identifying the most popular contestant via public votes in the first few polls and lump your money at them. The problem is, these votes do not traditionally begin until day 13 and their results are not made public.
However, one suspects someone somewhere may be privy to the information as the favourite entering the final week of the show has gone on to win in each and every one of the past eight series.
