League Of Ireland Betting Tips - Low Scoring On The Cards

League Of Ireland Betting Tips - Low Scoring On The Cards

Quick Tips:

The League of Ireland betting column is back after a one-week layoff, and there are some mouth-watering fixtures in store. It’s been quite a week for Irish clubs with the leagues top two sides', Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers, both progressing in their respective Champions League and Europa League qualifiers during the week in what turned out to be thrilling contests.

Dundalk will enjoy a well-earned rest from league duties this weekend, while Rovers will host struggling UCD in Tallaght on Sunday. Elsewhere, there are plenty of football betting opportunities across the rest of the league’s fixtures to sink our teeth into.

Waterford v Finn Harps - Friday, 7.45pm

Finn Harps travel to the RSC on Friday for a televised game against Waterford and look to be in for a difficult night. Alan Reynolds’ Blues have endured a rough patch of late and are without a win in their last four league outings.

However, they should have enough to see off a Harps side who have not won an away game in the Premier Division since September 2017 against Limerick - a run of 15 matches.

Waterford lost star man Bastien Hery to Linfield this month and without his creativity, things might not be easy on the eye. That’s why I believe Black Type’s under 2.5 goals and Waterford to win at a price of 14-5 looks the way to play this. The Blues’ last two wins were both 1-0 victories and I think something similar can be expected here.

Waterford are just seven points clear of the relegation play-off spot but they do have two games in hand on UCD. Harps sit bottom of the table and Alan Reynolds will be looking at this clash for Waterford to ease any relegation worries. It won’t be pretty, be they should eek this out.

Bohemians v St Patrick’s Athletic - Sunday, 3pm

Don’t expect too many goals when St Patrick’s Athletic head to Dalymount Park to take on Bohemians on Sunday. Under 2.5 looks the way to play this, and Bet365 have priced that up at {anchor("17/20{", "GDC - "~site_version.version_code~" - Product - Click", 17 , "_blank", "", "nofollow")|raw}}. The Saints will need to dust themselves down quickly from Thursday’s Europa League exit at the hands of IFK Norrkoping. Harry Kenny’s men crashed out after a 2-1 defeat in Sweden and lost 4-1 on aggregate.

Both of these sides are battling for a European spot with third-placed Bohs five points clear of their Dublin rivals in fifth, so a cagey match is to be expected. Throw in the fact that games involving the Saints average 1.72 goals and that clashes with the Gypsies average 1.80, it doesn’t point to a classic.

Keith Long’s side have failed to hit the net in their last three league outings and are coming off the back of a shock 1-0 defeat to second-from-bottom UCD on Monday. Bohs are without some key players, most notably in attack with striker Dinny Corcoran and winger Danny Grant ruled out through injury and playmaker Danny Mandroiu suspended. So it is hard to see where the goals are going to come from.

But despite their current problems going forward, Bohs boast one of the league’s meanest defences and will see this showdown as a game they must not lose if they want to maintain their European hopes. Expect them to keep it tight at the back and try to hit St Pat’s on the break. Playing in Sweden on Thursday night before a lunchtime Dublin derby on Sunday is not ideal preparation for the Inchicore outfit, and they could feel their tricky schedule catching up with them here.

Cobh Ramblers v Wexford - Saturday, 7pm

Over in the First Division, 4-5 with Bethard on Cobh Ramblers at home to Wexford is worth taking. Ramblers have won their last three league games at St Colman’s Park and they should have little issue making it four here.

You have to go back to April 26th to find Wexford’s last league victory, a 2-0 win at home to Athlone Town an astonishing 10 games ago. Cobh hammered Wexford 6-1 when they sides met in Cork back in March and a similar result is not out of the question here.

Wexford are enduring a nightmare season and have a goal difference of -24 for their efforts. It is difficult to see them causing too many problems. Expect Cobh to grab all three points.
