As the English Premier League title race edges ever closer to the finish line, it's Anfield that will once more be the focus for all football betting fans this Sunday. After a hard-fought win at Norwich last week, Liverpool will need to hold their nerve against one of their two rivals for the Premiership trophy, as they host the mighty Chelsea. Following Jose Mourinho's sulk-fest after their astonishing collapse against struggling Sunderland, many might fancy Chelsea to come out fighting, as they try to reinstate their title credentials.
At such a crucial stage of the season, though, past form will mean little – this match is going to be decided purely on who wants it more. Liverpool have a propensity to go off like a train and score early, while Chelsea's modus operandi leans towards grinding out 1-0 wins. If Liverpool stick to their season's trademark and attack from the start, then 888 Sports currently has them at a potentially-profitable 9/1 to go in at half-time 2-0 to the good, the same as they've done for the last two matches. But those same matches also saw the Reds leak a few goals, scraping 3-2 wins each time. Winner Sports are still offering 20/1 on a repeat of that scoreline at the time of writing.
The 'first goalscorer' punt is a wise move. On-fire Raheem Sterling must be a favourite, with Coral Sports now offering 7/1 on the precocious teenager. A better bet, on recent form, would be header-specialist Martin Skrtel flicking one in, at an amazing 28/1. Samuel Eto'o is 15/2 with Coral Sports, while poacher-turned-gamekeeper, Fernando Torres, is 8/1 - assuming the inconsistent Spaniard even starts.
With so much at stake, a draw would seem unlikely, but that's making the odds even more attractive. 888 Sports has a 2-2 ding-dong at 10/1, while Winner Sports are currently dishing out a seductive 40/1 on a 3-3 goalfest, which might not seem so crazy when you consider that Liverpool love to score goals, and Chelsea may have no alternative but to try and do the same.
If you fancy Chelsea causing an upset, even in the maelstrom of the Anfield cauldron, then 888 Sports have the Blues at 10/1 to win 1-2, and 21/1 to turn the tables on Liverpool's favourite scoreline, and ride out 2-3 victors. But if Chelsea play to their normal style and manage to peg Liverpool back, banking on a cheeky counter attack, then Winner Sports is offering 16/1 on a Chelsea 0-1.
The result may well be in the lap of the Gods, but to grab a decent punt on over 100 markets, tap into Winner Sports to bet large on the Premiership's most important game so far.
