MLS Soccer Bets & Odds You Should Be Backing This Weekend

Quick Tips

With the Copa America and CONCACAF Gold Cup tournaments getting underway next week, we find ourselves staring at an extremely limited MLS schedule this weekend. Only four games will be featured on the Friday and Saturday docket, with basically a two-week International break coming for Major League Soccer.

Before that break, let’s keep our eye out for some Major League Soccer betting plays from the four games this weekend starting with Friday’s affair in Canada.

Best MLS Weekend Bets: June 7-8, 2019

Toronto vs. Sporting Kansas City - Over 3 Goals (23/25)

Jozy Altidore and Michael Bradley were seen on Wednesday afternoon at USMNT training for the Gold Cup, so that tells us football bettors that the likelihood of either appearing on BMO Field for this MLS game is slim.

Terrance Boyd proved in his first start for Toronto last weekend that he can present some issues with his size and speed in the box. Now, the issue we saw was who could help feed him; the announcers talked about how his game will depend on solid entries and his teammates knowing how to help him be productive.

Boyd has three games under his belt and up the road he and Altidore will surely start to gel and present some serious issues for opposing back lines. Boyd should have a big night Friday as Sporting KC has six players still listed as out/doubtful on the MLS injury report.

SKC’s Krisztian Nemeth will need to be a monster up front, and I expect he and Boyd to both score with another coming from somewhere, even if it comes in ugly fashion. Toronto will need to make it ugly, because they are not exactly full of talent at midfield, and their backline falls apart all too often. Bet Over 3 Goals at 23/25 with 888Sport in New Jersey.

San Jose 1x2 vs. Dallas (20/21)

San Jose needs to keep its momentum at home going, and four straight wins at Avaya Stadium will likely turn to five when they take out Dallas in the first of Saturday’s three games.

Dallas got past Seattle last weekend 2-1, but did you see how that unfolded? Seattle had two own goals in the first half, and Dallas has some big issues when they leave Frisco, with two wins from seven games on the road.

Chris Wondolowski is obviously seeing the net and doing all of the scoring right now for the Earthquakes. It is quite amazing to see one player score all seven goals in their last three games, and Wondo isn’t with the USMNT for the Gold Cup.

The experience of Reto Ziegler on the Dallas back line will still not be there, and Dallas is simply not aggressive enough to scare any other back line right now. Dallas only put two shots on goals last weekend, so again that win really isn’t all that convincing. Bet San Jose 1x2 at 20/21 with Karamba.

Philadelphia vs. NY Red Bulls - Over 3 Goals (27/25)

We have four games and I like to give out a handful of plays, so let’s make this a 2-for-1 game!

First of all I expect goals to find the back of the net, as these two are certainly playing well and scoring right now. Expecting a 2-1 affair to go down to, at least, push the action, has value to me at that price.

I also suggest that if the Red Bulls are going to keep showing us that they have put that poor start behind them, then we can’t fade the run they are on. The Red Bulls are 6-1-1 in their past eight outings, and it looks like Bradley Wright-Phillips could make his return to the field this weekend as well.

As well as betting Over 3 Goals at 27/25 with MansionBet, take the Red Bulls +0.5 handicap at 1/1 because we just might be seeing a 2-2 show between these two.

Colorado vs Minnesota - Over 3 Goals (23/25)

If you have been reading our MLS betting articles, you surely have enjoyed whenever I suggest the Colorado total. Again I’ll say it because even with one of the more respected keepers that MLS has, Tim Howard, the Colorado back line is such a mess.

Now throw in that a Minnesota team that likes to come at you early and often, and we have ourselves a possible shootout situation happening. These two teams have combined to allow 58 goals already, and there is so much soccer left to play this season.

Expect a few more goals to come our way in this matchup to get you set before the big international competitions start next week. Bet Over 3 Goals at 23/25 with 888Sport.
