Bears Up After Heartbreaking Finish
Soldier Field was inches away from hysteria.
Down 38-31 with two seconds on the clock, Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky heaved a prayer to the endzone from his own 37-yard-line. Unbelievably the absolute rainbow of a throw came down into the hands of Bears receiver Kevin White.
Unfortunately for the home fans, the ball was caught a yard short of the endzone and White was desperately swarmed by New England Patriots defenders before he could cross the goaline.
With the loss the Bears may have dropped to 3-3, but they certainly gained a lot of respect around the league after going toe-to-toe with the AFC Champs. That's a far cry from most of what last season's uninspiring 5-11 squad accomplished and it seemed to legitimize the Bears as major playoff contenders.
A lot has been said about the revamped defense thanks to the Khalil Mack trade, but by nearly matching Tom Brady in a shootout Trubisky showed Chicago's offense is as dangerous as any it'll face this season.
They may be just outside the top 10 at 13th in our rankings, but it would be a big mistake to overlook the Bears in the NFC North Division race going forward.
It's a good time to consider a bet on Chi-Town with 888 Sport as the sportsbook lists the Second City at +3,300 odds to snatch a Super Bowl, and a more plausible +350 to win their ridiculously competitive division.
Amari Cooper to Cowboys: Star Receiver's Impact on Dallas' Odds
Ever since Dez Bryant's decline, the Dallas Cowboys have been searching for their next trademark superstar receiver.
Jerry Jones thinks he's hit the jackpot with former Alabama standout and Biletnikoff Award winner Amari Cooper. At least, he's certainly hoping so after giving up a first-round pick to pry Cooper away from the Raiders.
With the Oakland Raiders, Cooper was clearly having issues this season with Derek Carr. Hauling in one touchdown to go with just 280 yards over the first six games of the season, he was clearly one of the victims of a completely anemic Raider offense.
While Cooper hasn't yet topped 10 touchdowns in a season, his first two years in the NFL displayed boatloads of promise. He picked up over 1,000 yards in 2015 and 2016, and while he finished with just 680 last season, Cooper found the endzone a career-high seven times.
The Cowboys are listed a little below the middle-of-the-pack this week at No. 18, as even the acquisition of a new weapon for Dak Prescott wasn't enough to soften the blow of a rough road loss in D.C.
Their odds have increased substantially since last week, but those hopeful the big trade will reverse Dallas' fortunes can place a bet with 888 where the 'Boys have +5,000 chance to win it all.
