Stayers' Hurdle Tips
- Back Thyme Hill to win the Stayers at 7/2 with Bet365
- Back Sire De Berlais Each-Way at 8/1 with William Hill
It goes without saying that Emma Lavelle has worked wonders in getting her Cheltenham Festival hero Paisley Park back to what looks his best or possibly even better. He will need to be, as this contest has serious strength in depth this year and the stats are really against Andrew Gemmells former Stayers' hero, as nine-year-olds do not have a good recent record in this race.
Thyme Hill goes head-to-head with his Long Walk Hurdle conqueror, where he was mugged close home having idled once hitting the front and truly had his pocket picked. Luck was once again not on his side behind Monkfish in last year's Albert Bartlett, having run out of racing room in pursuit of a stands rail passage.
Last year's Pertemps Final winner (11st12lb) Sire Du Berlais was disappointing behind Flooring Porter at Leopardstown or could Lisnagar Oscar surprise us again?
Stayers' Hurdle Details
The Stayers’ Hurdle is a 3m Grade 1 Hurdle race considered the championship event for the stamina laden hurdlers. The winning connections collect a £135,048 prize for the feature race of the third day at the Cheltenham festival.

Stayers' Hurdle Betting Tips
The first two in the market are so closely matched it does mean there is plenty of each way value for punters. Outside of Paisley Park and Thyme Hill, Sire Du Berlais will relish a return to Cheltenham and may outrun his odds of 8/1 with Boylesports.
Willie Mullins is trying to win his third Stayers’ Hurdle and with rumours that Kemboy, who admittedly hasn’t turned up so far at the festival, could revert to smaller obstacles and take up his entry plus the ever-versatile Bachasson who son Patrick thinks is cracking value, adds real interest.
Roksana also holds an engagement in the mare's race but if she does take on the boys, she arrives here off the back of a facile Grade 2 win at Ascot and looks to retain all of her ability leading up to her third appearance at the festival.
Horse-By-Horse Stayers' Hurdle Guide
Rivals do battle once more
Paisley Park and Thyme Hill have really gotten to know each other this season, and it's currently one a piece. Philip Hobbs stable star is younger and a strongly run event will really suit but the 2019 winner will be trying to arrive on the scene late and we are in for another epic battle.
Roksana Do It For The Girls?
She was undoubtably a fortunate winner of the Mares Hurdle in 2019, but Dan Skelton's mare has enjoyed a very solid campaign and this strong traveller has got to be respected. In receipt of her allowance and plenty of course experience I hope she lines up and takes her chance.
Mullins Double Handed
It is strange for Willie Mullins to revert one of his better “Chasers” to the smaller obstacles, but it looks likely to happen here with Kemboy and will be intriguing to see how it goes. Bachasson operates over both and has actually enjoyed more success over hurdles, arriving here having won his last four outings.
This is a wonderful race on paper if all the main protagonists take their chance and I would be surprised if the match pair at the top of the market don’t lock horns here at the death. So far I have always been team Paisley Park, but although getting chinned in the Long Walk at Ascot, I cant help thinking connections of Thyme Hill should have learned a lot from that defeat. If the pace is end to end this race should be set up for both but I'm with the younger edition here to grab his first overdue festival win.
