We had a productive week with our total plays in Week 2 as we cashed three of the four. Our lone shortcoming was the Los Angeles Chargers-Buffalo Bills total that went over, as Josh Allen led the Bills to 20 points to push that game up.
At any rate, still a solid week for us to build on. Here are our best total plays for Week 3 NFL betting fans:
Over/under total: 41 at Karamba.
The Buffalo Bills are an awful team right now, easily one of the two worst in the league alongside the Arizona Cardinals.
The Bills have an unsettled quarterback situation which will see a rookie make his first road start. Their head coach has painted himself into a corner with his personnel decisions. And in general – with defensive playcalling changes and a player retiring at halftime last week – the mood is sour.
The Minnesota Vikings have one of the best defenses in the league. After facing Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers in Week 2, playing the Bills in Week 3 will seem like a walk in the park.
This game feels like a 27-6 game, under the number. Minnesota will have to score 34 or 35 points to push the game over the total, but they might be a bit sleepy for this one after last week’s drama against a rival. Back under 41 at Karamba.
Over/under total: 56 at Karamba.
The Chiefs have the hottest offense in the NFL after two weeks under quarterback Patrick Mahomes, but you might easily think that he is due for a cool-down moment in Week 3. That’s reasonable. However, what about the other team?
The 49ers allowed a few late touchdowns against Detroit before escaping with a 30-27 win. Their offense is a lot more talented than it was a year ago, and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo gives them a chance to score big when they take the field.
What’s been lost in the early part of the season is that the Chiefs defense hasn’t been very good. The focus has been on Mahomes, but the defense gave up 28 in Week 1 and 37 in Week 2. This is a matchup of teams that should both be in the 30s by the time it’s all said and done.
Keep betting Chiefs overs at Karamba until we see either their offense slowdown or an improvement on defense.
Over/under total: 48 at Karamba.
The Chargers have been involved in two games which have produced over 50 total points. Their defense is supposed to be one of the better ones in the NFL but has not played like it thus far this season.
The Chargers, up against the Los Angeles Rams’ offense under head coach Sean McVay, figure to have another tough afternoon. It doesn’t help that star linebacker Joey Bosa is out for this contest. The Rams have a diverse and balanced offense with one of the best play callers in the league at the head of their operation. The Rams have scored 33 and 34, and figure to be in that vicinity once again.
On defense, the Rams are strong, but Philip Rivers and the Bolts should be just fine. Derek Carr was 29-of-40 for 303 yards against the Rams in Week 1 and Rivers should be around there too – minus the boneheaded interceptions.
The over is 9-2 in the last 11 Rams games after they played a divisional opponent last week and 6-0 off a win against a division rival. Bet over 48 at Karamba
Over/under total: 38 at Karamba.
The Bears and Seattle Seahawks played a very poor game this past Monday night. The total reached 41 points only because the Bears got a pick-6 and Seattle scored a garbage touchdown late in the fourth quarter. If those kinds of things don’t happen, neither one of these offenses should score more than 21 points on Sunday.
The Cardinals have been very challenged offensively so far as quarterback Sam Bradford has just 243 passing yards, no touchdowns and three turnovers through two games. The Bears have a good defense, so they might have to do all of the scoring to push this over.
However, we know that they like to run the ball and use Mitchell Trubisky as a game manager. Those are factors likely to keep this game under, and that’s the bet to make at Karamba.
