The main qualifying process began in March 2019 and will end in November 2020. The qualifiers were played on double matchdays in March, June, September, October and November 2019. There are five groups of five teams and five groups of six teams, with the four UEFA Nations League Finals participants guaranteed to be drawn into groups of five teams.
The top two teams in each of the 10 groups qualified for Euro 2020, where they have already been drawn into six groups of four teams. The top two teams in each group will be joined by the four best third-placed teams in the last 16, from which point the tournament will become a straight knockout affair with extra time and penalties to decide the winners should a match be drawn after 90 minutes.
Whenever the UEFA European Championships come around, many betting customers like to try and predict who will eventually be crowned champions. As Euro 2020 approaches, the same major nations will be hoping for success and, with the outright winner betting market tending to be very competitive, bettors will be able to get a tempting price for any team to triumph once the tournament ends.
For many punters, the first step in identifying a winner is to create a shortlist of teams that they think can win Euro 2020, with current holders Portugal joining recent winners Spain and Germany among some of the potential winners.
Other nations such as England, France and Belgium are certainly worthy of consideration too and once you have narrowed down your search for a winner, you can then decide which Euro 2020 team appeals the most at the current prices.

Top Scorer Market | One thing we have seen in recent editions of this tournament is that a player’s chances of scoring the most goals in the European Championships depend on their respective nation going deep into the competition's latter stages. With that in mind, looking at the frontmen of the team or teams you expect to go far is a good place to start, before then taking time to understand which attackers are most likely to play regularly for the leading nations. After analysing their respective paths to the final or at least latter stages, that additional information should help to pick a potential Golden Boot winner for Euro 2020. Consider who takes penalties and free-kicks as this could go some way to deciding the outright winner.
First Scorer | One of the most popular football betting options is the 'first scorer' market, where a prospective punter can place a bet on the team and the individual player he thinks is going to score first in the match. The odds are better for the 'first scorer' market at Euro 2020 because there is a chance that anyone of 20 outfield players or even a substitute could be the first to score.
Half Time/Full Time | Another popular football betting market is the 'half-time/full-time' market, where you can place money on one team being ahead at half-time and the other at full time, or vice versa. Alternatively, the backer can gamble that one team will be ahead at both half and full time, or that it will be a draw at half-time and one of the teams will go on to win at full-time. Lastly, the punter can bet that the score will be a draw both midway through and at the end of the game. If you expect that one of the sides might jump in to an early lead, this is definitely an option to consider and is a good way to find value in a particular fixture.
Both Teams to Score | This is a particularly useful option given that just 24 teams will be taking part in Euro 2020. That is likely to see some very tight matches, but a knowledge of the defensive records of the two teams involved in a particular game will allow a punter to make an informed decision on the “both teams to score” market. If a team has a good attack but a porous defence, it is a solid option to back “yes” in this market, while a stout defensive team going up against a poor attack is the time to opt for “no.”
The UEFA European Championships is a competition usually held every four years for national teams who are members of UEFA. Competitors qualify for the competition by playing in group stages organised by the continental governing body.
Euro 2020 will be the first edition of the tournament not to be held in a specific country or countries, the games instead being spread across 12 venues in a dozen different locations. The matches will take place between June 11 to July 11, 2021. It had originally been due to be played between June 12 to June 12, 2020, but the coronavirus pandemic forced a postponement. Nonetheless, it is still being called Euro 2020 by UEFA.
Matches for Euro 2020 will be held at Baku’s Olympic Stadium (Azerbaijan), the Eurostadium in Brussels (Belgium), Copenhagen’s Parken Stadium (Denmark), England’s Wembley Stadium the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, Budapest’s Puskás Aréna (Hungary), Rome’s Stadio Olimpico (Italy), the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam (Netherlands), Dublin’s Aviva Stadium (Republic of Ireland), the Arena Națională in Bucharest (Romania), Saint Petersburg’s Krestovsky Stadium (Russia), Hampden Park in Glasgow (Scotland) and the San Mames in Bilbao (Spain).
Most top bookmakers have made England favourites at around 9/2, given a fine young generation of players is breaking through. However, some bookies side with current World Cup holders France, while Belgium are third favourites.
Yes, football betting on UEFA Euro 2020 is available across most sportsbooks with various different markets will be available including outright win, first goalscorer and in-play betting.
